Contemporary Fiber Artworks Linda has had long involvement in the Arts. Starting first as a musician at age 17 studying flute in France at the Paris Conservatory of Music and later earning a BA Degree in Art (concentrating in Ceramics) from San Jose State University. A lifelong interest in textiles has developed over time into a focus on the quilt process as a means to artistic expression. A casual experiment in making a "quilt" years ago progressed through trial and error to become a finished wall hanging. Having never made a quilt before and not knowing the "rules" she found herself challenged to bring her design vision into reality and there began her journey into the "Fiber Art World".
Linda has participated in Bay Area Arts and Crafts fairs on and off
over the years and, after settling in Benicia joined several local
arts organizations such as The Women's Art Co-operative of Benicia and
Beyond, Arts Benicia and the Fairfield Visual Arts Association (FVAA). Dimensional Discovery "Dimension and Innovation" Dimension and Innovation are hallmarks of her current work where she
uses the construction of fabric piecing as key design elements. Going
beyond the traditional quilting process of flat, pieced, fabric layers
stitched together and created primarily as bed covers or "throws" she
uses fabric insertion, manipulation and dimension to achieve unusual
effects in her original, contemporary, abstract and graphic style
fiber pieces. Where to see Linda's work . . . Web Gallery > Linda's work can be seen at shows throughout the year at several local
